We celebrated Easter this year with several special events.
In the run up to Easter we held a Lent Bible Study which took place from 18th February and held every Wednesday for the 6 weeks leading up to Easter. We explored the theme "Why on earth are we here". This was not only an opportunity to look at various parts of the bible, but also a time of fellowship where shared each others experiences and faith in, and love for, Jesus.
Our Band and Songsters led our meeting on Palm Sunday and our children prepared an 'Easter Collage' consisting of 3 panels, one for Palm Sunday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday. This remains on display in our main hall.
We held a very poignant service on Good Friday including the use of video material and moving music to concentrate our minds and souls on remembering the sacrifice Jesus made for us all. As one of our members said "we think about these things everyday, but on this day it brings it home to us in a special way". Several members of the congregation were moved to tears.
On Easter Sunday we started the day with a fellowship breakfast where over 40 of us sat down to a full cooked breakfast and shared each others company.
We had a rousing Easter Morning service starting with a march around the hall with the flag. The final touches were made to the Easter Collage by the children. The meeting concluded with shouts of hallelujah! We then gathered outside the hall for a church photograph, the one at the top of our website page, before walking to the seafront where we held an open-air meeting at the entrance to Deal Pier. As well as singing and playing we handed out chocolate easter eggs to children wakling past.
The Lord is risen and alive in Deal - hallelujah !!!
